Maybe, “the War never changes” in Fallout but not in World of Tanks. This game permanently undergoes significant and subtle changes, reworks and rebalancing. New features being added, old ones are taken away. For me as a player, it is vital to keep up with the slightest modifications of game mechanics, so I do my best in searching all over the Internet for the latest news and rumors about new World of Tanks updates and patches.

The Game that Changes

WoT is one of that continuously developed games. In fact, WG has never released the major version of the client, which would start with “1.” prefix. Every patch leaves “0.” at the beginning of the number like an implication that World of Tanks still has some bugs, gameplay issues, and other technical problems. I’ve seen a lot of other software products with comparatively worse problems, and their developers weren’t that shy. Though, it is quite convenient to know that WoT never stops to be better.

Six years have passed since the moment when the game was introduced to the mass-market. Lots of things have changed over this period. Initially, WG implemented real-life physics in World of Tanks but reversed shortly to more of arcade game type. Player’s feedback has shown, that gamers are not happy struggling with their hard-to-budge tons of iron. Controlling a highly-powered armored vehicle in combat IRL is a difficult job without that much fun. Luckily, Wargaming team has figured it out quickly and made battles enjoyable and entertaining for most of us, seasoned players.  

In-game mechanics were not left without attention as well. While WoT basics remain the same, some advanced tactics become obsolete giving a place to new ones. A majority of players quickly catches the winds of change and those who don’t soon enough find themselves beaten up really often. A good example of such situation was series of updates, which led to nerfed scouting. This was caused not only by adjustments to LT hard and soft stats but also by rebalancing of maps. Today, being the eyes of your team is less profitable and much riskier than it was years ago. Now, this technique is used in combination with other tactics such as flanking, which provides significant aid in destroying enemy vehicles.
