Tier: Ten (X);
Vehicle Type: Tank Destroyer.
1942, Summer. Germany's Army Command makes a deal with Rheinmetall and Krupp companies to supply an SPG based on the hull of Panther. As the result, three variants with different guns were designed. All versions retained "Grille" name and were distinguished by the length of a gun:
- 12 (K 43 gun - 128 mm);
- 15 (sFH43 howitzer - 150 mm);
- 15/L63 (150 mm 63 caliber);
All projects were similar in design except the gun types. The rear part of the armored vehicle was used to place the armament there. The latest one, Grille 15/L63 was able to penetrate armor thickness of 200 mm at a distance of 4 km. The work on the tank was prolongated for a while and then was abandoned. A single prototype was never built.
